Clarification on what we will accept in terms of violence:
Dark, gritty, these are ok. But there is a line that passes over edgy into unacceptable, we need to define this line a bit more.
We will NOT accept ANYTHING that shows Violence, Rape, Murder, Incest, Drug Dealing, Drug Abuse etc…IN A POSITIVE LIGHT!!!!
We understand that all of these things are sometimes important in stories, especially crime/thriller/mystery novels. However, in such cases, they should not be glorified, or be shown to be a good thing or something that a person could or should get away with.
In the end, the person who commits the crime should come to justice in some legal form (this does not mean an abused victim who commits cold-blooded murder and gets away with it–in this case the victim would also be a murderer and need to be brought to justice as well). Though we do accept when the murderer is killed in self-defense.
We know this can be a fine line. We do not expect every story to be a happy fairy tale or have a happy fairy tale ending…but we do not advocate violence as a positive thing to do and can not in good conscience publish anything that does!
Examples of what is and is not acceptable:
ACCEPTABLE (and even just the type of thing we are looking for): A gritty thriller about a hard-boiled detective who breaks a few rules in his pursuit of a serial killer. Through out the novel we see glimpses into the killers mind, we see from his point of view as to why he kills and why in his mind this is acceptable. In the end the killer is killed by a tough victim while she is trying to get away. (Or maybe by the tough detective in self-defense).
NOT ACCEPTABLE –A novel about a vigilante who has become disgusted with the world and has decided to start ridding the world of those he considers “scum” or “guilty”. We follow him through out the book as he describes how he murders and tortures criminals. In the end he is never caught, be beats the police looking for him at every turn. He is the hero of the story.
If you have any questions about this or believe you have what should be an exception to our rule, contact us and we will discuss it with you.

Do you charge the author any costs for publishing with you, whether as an e-book or on paper?

No, we are not a self-publisher. We offer the same type of services as the big guys. We do not charge an author to publish.
